SANTO DOMINGO.- The Public Works Ministry said the construction of the Santo Domingo-Samana highway, at a cost of more than US$120 million, is more than 80 percent completed, said the Government on its Web site. It said the highway will have two lanes, 3.65 meters wide each; a total of 12 bridges and four intersections, in addition to 3 toll plazas. The company Autopistas del Nordeste, which has concession and the works, is currently in the process of compaction, and of asphalting the first layer continuously in several sections simultaneously. It also advances in the construction in the two remaining toll booths, the first located 16 kilometers from the Las Américas highway and the other 84 kilometers from the crossing with the Nagua road at Molinillos. > read article
